Wierdabrug police on manhunt for red Isuzu bakkie driver after hit-and-run
Police are asking for the public’s help in solving the culpable homicide case.

The Wierdabrug police in Centurion are on a manhunt for an Isuzu bakkie driver who was involved in a hit-and-run between the N14 and R55 in Monavoni AH.
This incident claimed the life of the 54-year-old biker last month.
Wierdabrug police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma asked community members to assist the police in finding the culprit.
Huma said according to witnesses the culprit was driving a red Isuzu bakkie.
“A witness alleges that a red Isuzu that was following a white Ford Bantam changed lanes into oncoming traffic… the lane that the bike was driving on. The biker tried to avoid it and as a result, hit the steel barricades, was flung high and fell on the side of the road and was declared dead on the scene.
“The witness did not manage to take the registration number of the red Isuzu bakkie.”
A culpable homicide case has since been opened by the police.
Police urged all those with information regarding the accident to contact Sargent Mokoena on 082 335 2479.
Centurion roads have not been kind to bikers and cyclists in the last few years.
In 2019 Rekord reported that a motorcyclist died in an accident on Kruger Avenue close to the SPCA in Lyttleton Manor.
“A Land Rover and motorcycle collided. The motorcyclist, believed to be in his 30s, were declared dead on the scene,” Ruan Heyns from CERT-SA said.
A similar incident also took place in Solomon Mahlangu Drive, when a biker’s body was found in the middle of the road.
According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, upon arrival paramedics provided the man with several advanced life support interventions.
“Unfortunately, after 30 minutes, no vital signs returned and the man was declared dead. The driver of the bakkie was assessed and found to have escaped injury.”
