Partnership between security firm, police brings results
“Centurion is no playground for criminals,” says Brigadier Matlala.

A partnership between security company Monitor-net and Lyttelton SAPS led to the successful arrest of a suspect in a stolen car case.
Monitor-net PRO JP Le Roux told Rekord that a car was reported stolen in December last year.
“The vehicle was hijacked in December and was driven around Centurion. Members of our team were doing the rounds when they intercepted the vehicle,” Le Roux said.
He said the suspect tried to evade arrest but was unsuccessful.
In a separate incident police apprehended a suspect for possession and recovered four stolen vehicles.
According to security personnel, two of the four vehicles were motorcycles.
“One arrest was executed and the investigations regarding the cases are all pending, hoping that some more arrests will follow,” he said.
“Criminals should by now get the message that they are not welcome in Centurion, and that they will most definitely meet one of the passionate security- and police officials.”
Le Roux gave a stern warning to hijackers that Centurion was not a playground area, adding that should they continue to take chances Monitor-net will deal with them head on.
“The meeting will not consist of a tea and cake session and the cellblocks at one of the police station’s menus are very limited regarding the choice of food and beverages,” he said.
Le Roux thanked both Lyttelton and Wierdabrug police for their continuous support during the festive season.
Brigadier Thebeng Matlala also said that his members were forever ready to deal with criminals who are hell-bent on terrorising residents and disturbing their peace.
Matlala said police were committed to rooting out crime and criminals from the area.
“Criminals should know that Centurion is no playground for criminals.
“They are not welcome in Centurion, and our community must not tolerate any form of lawlessness in our area,” said Matlala.
