Tshwane police arrest 418 suspects, including two murder suspects
The operations were led by Major-General Azwinndini Nengovhela in the Lyttelton and Silverton policing precincts.
Two murder suspects were among 418 people arrested during operations held between Wednesday evening and the early hours of Thursday morning.
The district acting communication coordinator Johan van Dyk said 130 of the arrests were related to gender-based violence together with two for attempted murder.
“Twenty-one premises were visited and searched, of which four liquor outlets were inspected, resulting in two illegal shebeens being shut down for contravention of the liquor act. A total of 68 990ml liquor was confiscated and will be destroyed.
“Three persons were arrested for possession of drugs.

“In addition, 78 undocumented immigrants were detained, and 154 Aarto fines to the value of R82 700 were issued during a multidisciplinary roadblock,” he said.
The operation was in conjunction with the departments of home affairs, correctional services, community safety, labour, Gauteng traffic and officers from various SAPS stations and units based in Tshwane.
“A total of 3 361 persons and 230 vehicles were searched during this operation. The team, comprising this operation included high visibility patrols in crime hotspots, compliance inspections, and raiding of illegal liquor outlets.”
The operations were led by Major-General Azwinndini Nengovhela in the Lyttelton and Silverton policing precincts.
“I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to all members who participated in this successful operation,” said Nengovhela.
