‘Mooikloof, Lynnwood outages are being attended to’ – metro

The problem is compounded by prolonged load-shedding, which makes it difficult for teams to work in the dark, especially on overhead lines.

Various parts of Tshwane municipality are experiencing multiple power outages due to rainy weather conditions.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the municipality was experiencing a huge backlog in attending to power outages.

“The City’s technicians have been unable to work on electrical cables while it’s raining as it is not safe to do so,” said Mashigo.

The problem was also compounded by prolonged load-shedding, which makes it extremely difficult for teams to work in the dark, especially on overhead lines.

He, however, assured residents that technical teams were attending to power outages affecting Mooikloof, The Willows, Lynnwood and Lynburn.

According to the municipality, the outages were caused by the fallen trees which in turn damaged the overhead lines in these areas.

“Plans for repairs are currently underway. The estimated restoration time is not yet known.”

Mashigo added that Eskom’s technicians were patrolling the network line in parts of region 7 to try and locate what caused the outages in the area.

“The patrols will continue until the fault point is identified to allow their technicians to make the necessary repairs,” Mashigo said.

Furthermore, he said residents would be kept in the loop concerning power outages.
