Join in to help Sinoville Crisis Centre revamp their playground
The SCC was established over a decade ago to provide a more victim-friendly service to gender-based violence and other crimes.

The Sinoville Crisis Centre (SCC) asked residents to help them revamp their playground this weekend.
This was as the centre, together with the Motor Industry Staff Association, will be revamping the playground at Konavle Street on Saturday.
The SCC was established over a decade ago to provide a more victim-friendly service to gender-based violence and other crimes.
One of the victims, assisted by the centre, survived a horrific ordeal 10 years ago when her ex-husband shot her son, violently attacked her with pliers and watched while she was raped and tortured by his accomplices.
Colleen Strauss (CEO) and Dr Pixie du Toit, founder of the centre, assisted her throughout the ordeal.
“The majority of gender-based violence victims are isolated from their friends and family. They don’t have anywhere to go. The investigating officers try their utmost best to assist with advice, but they are not trained counsellors.
“Non-profit organisations seek a network of victim-friendly service providers. This is to prevent the victims from suffering secondary trauma because they feel the justice system is failing them,” said Strauss.
The centre is a non-profit that is run by donations that are used to provide services for those who need them the most.
Those looking for something to do this Saturday can visit the centre to help give back to a place that assists victims to get their life back on track.
Donations of the followings items would be welcomed: garden toys, shade netting, old dealer flags, nets or plastic posters, garden chairs and tables, garden shrubs, flowers, pots, outdoor paint colours, faux grass, soft toys, nappies, baby bottles, nappy bags and baby stuff.
If you are unable to contribute financially your time would be equally as valuable.
Work on the project will start at 09:00 at the SCC.
