North police need help to find missing persons

Police asked for the public’s help in finding two persons that were reported missing at the Akasia station this month.

Mahlatse Thomas Monyuku (24) was reported missing on February 11, after he ran away from his uncle and has not returned.

According to Akasia police spokesperson Lindiwe Mabasa, the missing man’s aunt explained that she had gone to the shop and left the 24-year-old outside.

When she returned, she found her husband in the street looking for Monyuku who ran away. Attempts to follow him had failed as he was running too fast.

“We went back home hoping that he would come back or hear that he went to visit family in Soshanguve, but he was not there. The family then called his girlfriend, who said that she had not seen him either.”

He was last seen wearing a black v-neck t-shirt with a grey and white round-neck jersey as well as red shorts and red All-Star boots.

The second missing case reported is of a 30-year-old woman, who was last seen on December 23, 2022.

The case was, however, only opened on February 14.

Duduzile Prudence Matlakala’s mother said the reason she took this long to report her missing was that she tended to leave home and return after a few days.

This time she had not returned and her phone was off.

“Matlaka was last seen leaving the house talking on the phone. Before she left, she was cleaning the house and asked the rest of the family to leave the room because she wanted to clean it.”

She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, black skinny jeans and brown sandals.
