Sinoville CPF warns of increase in robberies in area
The area has seen a 125% increase in robberies at non-residential premises, according to the latest crime stats.

The Sinoville CPF has warned residents to be careful after an increase in robberies in the area.
Recent crime stats from October to December 2022 showed that the Sinoville police station had seen a 45.5% increase in common robberies.
It has also seen a 29.3% increase in reports of robbery with aggravating circumstances and a 125% increase in robberies at non-residential premises.
The CPF shared the following tips on how to stay safe:
Businesses
– Join the Sinoville CPF as a business member and train your staff on how to use the CPF radio.
– Ask your security company to do a full risk assessment to ensure that your premises, customers and staff are protected against armed robberies.
– Be alert, especially during opening and closing hours. Watch out for robbers who linger and pose as customers.
– Stay informed about local crime and train your staff in crime prevention. Make them aware of what to watch out for concerning suspicious behaviour.
– Keep your business well-lit to deter crime.
House robberies
– Implement detection methods like beams and motion sensor lights to warn you if there is any movement on your property.
– Ensure that your alarm system is in working condition and arrange with your security company to test your panic button.
– Change routines when travelling to and from home.
– Keep walls and gardens clear from long grass and bushy shrubs.
– Remove dustbins, ladders and anything a criminal may use to climb over walls and into windows.
– When hiring employees get several trustworthy references.
– Secure windows and doors
– Please check gates when load-shedding occurs.
– Know your neighbour and become an active member of your neighbourhood.
– Keep emergency numbers in a place everyone at home can access and store them as a speed dial on your phone as well.
With the increase of crime in the area the CPF require heightened visibility in the area that only be achieved if more people joined the CPF to keep the community safe.
