10 years for Mams tuckshop robbers
The robbers were arrested on the same day as the robbery.
Two Mamelodi men were sentenced each to 10 years in prison by the Pretoria High Court on charges of business robbery.
Loyd Sefaka (21) and Pheletso Monareng (21) were arrested in 2022.
Police spokesperson Constable Lethabo Mashiloane said the two accused were arrested on the morning of March 24, 2021.
He said the Mamelodi East police management welcomed the sentence.
“The accused were arrested after crime prevention unit officers attended to a business robbery in Tshoane Street ext. 6 where a tuckshop owner was held at gunpoint and money and other valuable items were taken,” said Mashiloane.
Detective Constable Emmanuel Makhuvha was assigned to investigate and the suspects were arrested on the same day.
Mamelodi East station commander Brigadier Terence Naidoo believed this sentence will send a strong message.
He commended the investigating officer for his hard work.
