Bail hearing for alleged TUT student murderer postponed

Ngcebo Thusi is facing a charge of murder and defeating the administration of justice for Xaba’s killing.

The bail application by Blue Bulls junior rugby player Ngcebo Thusi in the Pretoria magistrate’s court last week was postponed to May 4.

Thusi is accused of the murder of Ntokozo Xaba, a 21-year-old third-year Tshwane University of Technology integrated communication student in early February.

He is alleged to also have been Xaba’s ex-boyfriend and the last person she was seen with alive at her student accommodation before she was discovered with stab wounds to the neck.

Thusi is facing a charge of murder and defeating the administration of justice for Xaba’s killing.

The postponement was to allow all parties in the case know that Thusi, who had previously abandoned his bid for bail, had changed his mind.

According to reports, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) will oppose his bail application at his next appearance.

NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said the authority had evidence that suggests that the murder was premeditated hence it will fight tooth and nail to see Thusi remanded in custody.

The accused remains in custody.
