Vehicles catch fire in fatal accident

“Two patients were treated on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, a person believed to be an adult male, lost his life in the collision.”

One motorist succumbed to his injuries and two others were transported to hospital after a multi-vehicle collision on the corners of R101 and Erica Street in Bon Accord.

Pro Med emergency medical services responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident last night and upon arrival, paramedics found that a truck, a double-decker bus and a small vehicle had collided in the intersection and caught fire.

Pro Med spokesperson Michael Gough said a quick assessment of the scene concluded that the bus had no passengers while two occupants of the other vehicles escaped the blaze.

“The two were treated on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.

“Unfortunately, a person believed to be an adult male, lost his life in the collision.”

He added that the exact cause of the accident remains unknown and will be subjected to an investigation.
