Prospective tenants for Townlands housing invited to apply
“Applicants are requested to bring all the required documents along as no copies will be made at the office.”
Application for tenancy at Townlands, the metro owned housing project, closes on May 19.
Tshwane metro human settlement MMC Ofentse Madzebatela said this is the second phase of the project, and people who earn between R11 301 and R22 000 per month are invited to apply to live in the block of flats.
“Townlands offers subsidised rental rates in a prime location close to the inner city and various workplaces.
The project provides affordable rental housing to residents who are finding it hard to find affordable rental accommodation in the inner city and is targeting South African citizens who are 18 years or older, employed and/or self-employed, and have a clean credit record,” Madzebatela said.
According to the metro’s communique, prospective residents can also visit SKG Tower Building (Absa Building) in Pretorius Street between 09:00 and 15:00 to apply.
“Applicants are requested to bring all the required documents along as no copies will be made at the office.” These include copies of their identity documents (IDs), payslip and six months’ bank statement.
The MMC said providing affordable housing was a fundamental priority of the multiparty administration.
Townlands is one of the country’s biggest social housing ventures and consists of 1 200 mixed-use units.
The metro previously announced that in the first phase last year, 6 000 people applied for Townlands accommodation and in September 800 of them qualified and were shortlisted for approval with 691 finally being given the green light.
It said 211 tenants had already moved in.
