10 nabbed in Mamelodi for drunk driving in police operation
Mpumalanga police joined the operation to benchmark and learn good practices of Operation O Kae Molao, which is aimed at stamping the authority of the state and deal with any criminal activities to ensure law and order.
A total of 744 suspects were arrested for various crimes over the weekend in the first phase of a joint O Kae Molao operation conducted by Gauteng and Mpumalanga police on May 20.
The second phase of the operation in Mamelodi consisted of a roadblock in Solomon Mahlangu Drive, and netted 10 people for drunken driving.
Six unlicensed shebeens were shut down and alcohol seized, while 18 undocumented persons were arrested.
OPERATION O KAE MOLAO
Gauteng police commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela said he was joined by the his Mpumalanga counterpart, Lieutenant-General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela and her management to deal with acts of criminality in the area.
He said Mpumalanga police joined the operation to benchmark and learn good practices of Operation O Kae Molao, which is aimed at stamping the authority of the state and deal with any criminal activities to ensure law and order.
“Operation Okae Molao was a success and arrested 744 in the first phase.”
“We are happy with what we have done so far and we want to encourage residents of Mamelodi to work together with police in fighting crime,” said Mawela.

VHUTHA MMLILO OPERATIONS
General Manamela said: “In Mpumalanga we do have Vhutha Mmlilo operations, but as police we are one family.”
“As a family we came here to benchmark and see why O Kae Molao is doing better.”
“We are here with management just to see how the operation is being done and implemented.
“We are fighting the common enemy, we are fighting crime,” Manamela concluded.
