Big developments to grow motor industry in Rosslyn

“The opening of this centre actually means we are creating a society that will be able to produce, create opportunities themselves and a society that can exchange products.”

Rosslyn continues to develop as a world-class business hub in the north of Pretoria.

This comes after a new automotive industry hub was officially opened by Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi and his MEC for economic development Tasneem Motara.

The Batyi automotive component supply (BACS) facility will be one of the motor sectors adding to the growth of the automotive industrial development in Tshwane.

It will positively impact the local economy and strengthen the growth of the Rosslyn improvement district.

Lesufi said the official opening of this facility is testimony that the private sector can work hand in glove with government.

“This is a great investment which will benefit generations to come.

“The opening of this facility is a step in embracing transformation and showing the world that we can achieve anything if we work together,” he said.

“We can all agree that our country is going through a rough patch but at the same time it is our duty to create opportunities.

“This facility is a way forward to address economic challenges in the area and it will positively impact economic development and employment opportunities.”

FACILITY TO STEER TRANSFORMATION, OPPORTUNITIES

Lesufi said this facility steers transformation and opportunities.

“It is time we localise and produce our own and with this facility it is all possible.

“We cannot just be a country of consumers, we must also be producers.

“The opening of this centre actually means we are creating a society that will be able to produce, create opportunities themselves and a society that can exchange products,” Lesufi said.

“If the private sector and government can play their part, this facility can turn ordinary players extraordinary and make them competitive in the economic market.”

The future generation of people “who will change the perspective and create opportunities” he said, were the focus of the government’s master skills plan.

YOUTH KEY TO MORE DEVELOPMENT

“We must keep in mind that there are approximately 2.3 million learners in our schools, and they are looking up to us.”

He added that government reject the idea of having those kids join the lines of job seekers.

“They must be in the line of people who are opening doors and creating opportunities,” he said.

Lesufi stated that the reason his government was investing in 35 specialised schools was because “we can’t have schools that are doing the same thing” throughout the province.

“We must have innovative learners moving with the forever-changing technology.”
