Suspect arrested for R390 000 marijuana in Rosslyn
The officers found duct-taped bags full of dagga inside the vehicle and the suspect was arrested.
The Tshwane metro police arrested a man with R390 000 worth of marijuana on Friday, June 16, at an estate in Rosslyn for drug possession.
“He was arrested by the officers while on patrol at R566 and Leopard Rock intersection when they stopped a white Toyota Avanza,” said metro police spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
“The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and the officers gave chase. They found the vehicle parked next to a house at a nearby estate.”
Inside the car, police found a passenger. The driver had fled the scene.
When the vehicle was searched, the officers found duct-taped bags of dagga.
The suspect was then arrested for possession of drugs and will appear in court soon.
Mahamba said the case will be investigated further to apprehend the driver who is still on the run.
He also thanked the TMPD for their hard work and dedication and urged residents to report the suspect to the TMPD on 012 358 7095/7096 if they know his whereabouts.
