Water supply interruption at The Reeds and surrounds

Technicians will be repositioning a 355mm bulk pipeline along the Old Johannesburg Road on Tuesday, June 20.

The Tshwane metro has warned of water supply interruptions at The Reeds on Tuesday, June 20.

Affected areas may include Highveld, Louwlardia, Rooihuiskraal and The Reeds.

Water supply interruptions in this area are expected to be intermittent.

Metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said that the expected interruptions were due to upkeep on a water supply pipeline in The Reeds ext. 63.

Technicians will be repositioning a 355mm bulk pipeline along the Old Johannesburg Road.

Mashigo said that the metro would try to avoid water supply interruptions at all costs.

The following areas are expected to be affected:

– Highveld ext. 8, 9, 11, 12, 32, 37, 38, 39, 44 and 47

– Louwlardia ext. 34, 48, 60, 76 and 77

– Rooihuiskraal ext. 3 and 20

– The Reeds ext. 10, 19, 20, 39 and 63

The metro urged residents to use water sparingly during this period and make water conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle.

Mashigo offered the following tips for the period:

– Do not water or irrigate gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00.

– Do not wash vehicles with hosepipes.

– Do not fill swimming pools.

“Residents are also urged to keep using grey water for gardens and flush toilets, report water leaks, burst pipes and all incidents related to water wastage,” said Mashigo.
