One dead, three arrested following robbery in Centurion
Centurion is not your playground, says Monitor Net Security
One suspect succumbed to injuries while three were arrested following a shootout on Rooihuiskraal Road near the N14 highway on Monday.
According to local community paramedic service Cert-SA, four suspects were fleeing after robbing a shop at the Mall@Reds when they suddenly stopped near an off-duty police officer who was in the area.
“A shootout ensued between the officer and the suspects.”
Monitor-Net media relations officer JP Le Roux confirmed the incident, saying his guards arrived on the scene within minutes of being notified.
“Yesterday (Monday) afternoon an armed robbery occurred at a well-known shopping centre in Centurion.
“Suspects shot at the officer whereby the officer defended himself and managed to shoot one suspect,” Le Roux said.
He said Monitor Net guards detained the remaining three who had been fleeing on foot.
“Two firearms and stolen stock were found on the scene. A very well done to the off-duty police officer risking his life for the community.”
Le Roux further sent a strong warning to criminals, saying that Centurion was no territory for crime, adding that all security forces in the area were committed in making Centurion safe.
Police confirmed the case is being investigated.
