Tshwane suspends A Re Yeng bus service on safety concerns
The first bus this morning was pelted with stones and the windscreen was smashed en route to Wonderboom.
The Tshwane metro has temporarily suspended all A Re Yeng bus operations following an incident of vandalism of the first bus early this morning.
“The bus was pelted with stones along Lavender Road on its way to Wonderboom,” said metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
Mashigo said the suspension was implemented for the safety of drivers and commuters.
“The perpetrators smashed the windscreen on the driver’s side. Luckily, the driver did not sustain any injury and there were no passengers on board,” Mashigo said.
Consequently, bus operations are suspended with immediate effect in the interest of safety.
Mashigo said the Tshwane bus service (TBS) operations remain suspended.
He advises commuters to arrange alternative transport.
“We will keep our commuters updated on the bus operations and new developments.”
