Police need help in identifying burnt body

Silverton police calls for the community’s assistance with the identification of the burnt body of an unknown man.

Silverton police have asked for the community’s help with the identification of an unknown burnt body.

The body was discovered by CPF members while on patrol in Nellmapius ext. 4 near Teaspoon driving school and Bali Village on Tuesday, according to police spokesperson Warrant Officer, Johann van Dyk.

He said police were summoned to the scene where the charred remains of an unknown man had been discovered in the bushes.

Van Dyk said the body was found with his hands and feet tied behind.

He said police could not estimate the age of the deceased.

Residents of Nellmapius ext. 4 have called on the community to join the fight against crime and bring any information that can help the investigation into this case to the police.
