Planned power outage to hit Soshanguve, Rosslyn residents

Essential maintenance at K3 Substation will leave communities without electricity for seven hours next Sunday.

The Tshwane Metro has announced a planned power supply interruption affecting Soshanguve and Rosslyn as part of essential maintenance work at the K3 Substation.

The shutdown is scheduled for November 23 and will last from 09:00 until 16:00.

According to metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo, the maintenance is necessary to repair a damaged fibre cable that has disrupted protection inter-trips and communication links on the 132kV lines connecting primary substations.

“The work is critical to ensure the reliability and safety of the electricity network,” said Mashigo.

Mashigo urged residents to treat all network points as live during this period.

The outage will affect the entire Soshanguve township as well as the Rosslyn Automotive Supplier Park, potentially impacting homes, businesses, and local services.

“The city apologises for the inconvenience and asks residents and businesses to take precautions, including switching off electrical appliances to avoid damage when power is restored.”

Consumers can report power outages by calling 012 358 9999 and selecting option 3, or by sending an SMS with ‘power’ followed by their account number to 082 612 0333 or 44676.

Residents are reminded to remain cautious and patient while maintenance work is carried out to ensure a safer, more reliable electricity supply for the future.
