Improved road conditions bring relief to Sinoville residents
After months, Tshwane metro teams finally completed tar patching and proper finishing work, bringing relief to daily commuters and pedestrians.
Residents of Marija Street in Sinoville, Ward 50, have welcomed the improved road conditions following the completion of a tar patch and the related after-work by the Tshwane metro teams.
The intervention has brought much-needed relief to community members who rely on the street daily for commuting, access to homes, and service delivery.
For months, residents had experienced challenges caused by deteriorating sections of the road, particularly during peak traffic times and after rainfall.
The uneven surface affected motorists and pedestrians alike, raising concerns around safety and vehicle damage.

The recent repairs have now restored the affected area, improving both functionality and appearance.
“This has made a big difference for us. The road feels much smoother now, and you can see that proper work was done after the tar patch. Driving here is no longer stressful,” said Patricia Louw.
“Before the repairs, you had to slow down suddenly or drive around damaged sections. Now the road is safer, especially for children and elderly people who walk along the street every day.”
Residents also expressed appreciation for the completion of proper after-work, which they say is often overlooked during road repairs.
The finishing work ensured that loose gravel was cleared and the repaired section blended seamlessly with the rest of the road.
“We are happy that they didn’t just patch the road and leave it like that. The after-work was done properly, and that gives us confidence that the repairs will last longer.”
Simphiwe Skhosana of Marija Street said, “We must also give credit to our ward councillor Lenise Breytenbach, who has been at the forefront and ensuring that we get the services we deserve.”
Marija Street serves as an important access route within Sinoville, used by residents, visitors and service vehicles.

Improved road conditions are expected to enhance traffic flow and reduce the risk of accidents. Several residents noted that the street now feels more accessible and orderly.
“It might seem like a small thing, but good roads really improve daily life.
“You don’t worry about damaging your car anymore, and it just makes the area feel cared for,” said Skhosana.
While residents acknowledge that many other streets in Ward 50 still require attention, they see the work done on Marija Street as a positive example of effective service delivery.
Community members have encouraged continued maintenance and regular monitoring to ensure the road remains in good condition.
Breytenbach urged residents to continue reporting service delivery issues to official municipality channels.
