Possible 9-hour water disruption for east areas this Wednesday

The metro team will carry out maintenance work on the corner of Struben Street and Graham Road from 08:00 to 17:00

Residents in parts of Pretoria east may experience temporary water supply interruptions due to planned maintenance work at the corner of Struben Street and Graham Road.

The work, initially scheduled for January 28, will now take place on February 4, following unforeseen challenges identified within the network.

According to metro spokesperson Lindela Mashigo, the essential maintenance is expected to last about nine hours, from 08:00 to 17:00.

Temporary water supply interruption will affect the following areas:

Boschkop 369-JR Farms, Camel Valley, Innoland Ext 3, Leoprop, Newmark Estate, Paradiso, Paramount Estate, Shere AH, Silver Lakes Ext 1–4, Silver View Ridge, Silver Well, Silver Woods Country Estate, and multiple Tijger Valley extensions.

Mashigo said the rescheduling was necessary to ensure the work is carried out safely and effectively.

“Unfortunately, technical challenges were identified that required additional preparation, making it necessary to reschedule the work,” Mashigo said.

Mashigo apologised for the inconvenience and appealed to residents to co-operate during the planned shutdown.

“We encourage affected residents to store enough water ahead of time and to continue practising water-saving habits, not only during the maintenance period but as part of their daily lives,” he added.

Residents are urged to avoid watering gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 06:00 and 18:00, refrain from washing vehicles with hosepipes, and not fill swimming pools. The city further encourages the use of grey water for watering gardens and flushing toilets.

Water-saving measures such as installing low-flow showerheads, using dual-flush toilets, planting drought-resistant vegetation, collecting rainwater, and fixing leaks promptly are also strongly advised.

Mashigo encouraged residents to report water leaks, burst pipes, blocked street sewers and other water-related incidents by calling 012 358 9999 or 080 1111 556.

Illegal water connections can be reported to 012 358 9060, while non-payment and account enquiries can be directed to 012 345 8514.
