Pretorians raise a glass to Sanbeer Day

The event introduced many to the craft beer scene, offering a wide selection of local brews in a festive Pretoria setting.

Beer and music lovers came together over the weekend at Capital Craft Beer Academy in Menlo Park to celebrated South African National Beer Day (#SanBeerDay) with Bottomless Beer.

General manager at Capital Craft, Hentie Barnard said, “We are celebrating SanBeerDay with bottomless beer, going close to 250 beers that we have on offer.”

Barnard said SanBeerDay unites beer and music lovers in the beautiful surroundings of Pretoria.

“The SanBeerDay is a big one for us because it introduces a lot of people to Capital Craft and to the craft beer industry,” said Barnard.

“We offered bottomless beer from a wide selection of local beers on tap, plus extra floating beer options,” said Barnard.

“We are celebrating the SanBeerDay by having lots of fun, including food, music and of course South African beer,” said Barnard.

Ruan Olivier, Darnell van Wyk and Lelanie Olivier. Darnell was celebrating his 30th birthday.

Darnell van Wyk, who came with his friends to celebrate his 30th birthday, said: “We are celebrating my birthday by having lots of fun, which includes food, music and of course, South African beer.”

Barnard said, “Beauty is in the hand of the beer holder, and on this day, every hand deserves a Bottomless Beer!”

Kevin van Zyl said he enjoyed the food and beer at Capital Craft.

South African National Beer Day is a collection of small-scale events, promotions, educational sessions, pairings, specials and mini festivals held across the country on the first Saturday in February.
