Citizen’s faith restored

A reader is impressed with the fast action and professionalism of the Brooklyn police and wishes to commend them on a job well done.

I wish to take this opportunity to thank the Brooklyn police for the excellent service received on the night of 29 November. I believe the police receive a lot of negative criticism, and I feel it only right to inform the general public of the excellent service I received.

On 29 November I contacted the police with regard to a situation relating to my ex, who was threatening suicide and was at this point both a threat to herself and society. I contacted the police at roughly 18:00, after ten minutes I received a call to inform me that they had arrived at our residence and requested for me to attend and explain the story.

I was amazed at how quickly and efficiently they acted and defused an otherwise fatal situation. The knowledge of procedure and possible solutions which the officers had was astounding and within a very short period of time a solution was found to the problem.

Even though the officers were present, they waited for female officers to attend in order to remove the person from the residence and escort her to a place of safety.

I wish to thank Warrant Officer Van Vuuren and his team, officers Erwee and Dodgen particularly for their excellent service.

It is undoubtedly because of the officers above that my faith in our law enforcement has been restored.
