With the fireworks season slowly coming to an end I want to voice my concerns.
As a pet owner I always prepare for events such as Diwali and New Year’s Eve. I think we have all just come to terms with the fact that people will continue to do as they please when it comes to fireworks.
What I do find unacceptable is that the setting off of fireworks is never just isolated to those evenings – it usually goes on for days afterwards. What happened to respect for those around you? It doesn’t exist anymore.
Having fireworks going off randomly for days after those special occasions is frustrating and annoying, because it means that those doing it have absolutely no respect for my animals or my property. Why do I need to keep my animals medicated and locked inside for days on end? It is not fair. Why should I be picking up their litter from my yard to prevent my animals from eating it?
This letter is to those who think it is fun to ignite fireworks when they feel like it. Shame on you. How would you like it if your children had to be drugged and kept inside for days on end to protect them?
Never mind that fireworks are illegal and you are breaking the law. You’re actually lucky that authorities are kept busy and you don’t get caught. What will it take for people to realise that fireworks are more harm than good?
