Squatter camp embarrassing

A resident of the east writes in to share her feelings about the growing squatter camp on the corner of Atterbury Road and Selikaats Causeway.

What’s with the squatters setting up camp in Atterbury Road? I moved to the east a few years ago in search of a decent neighbourhood to raise my children in and have been wanting to write in for quite some time. When my family from New Zealand arrived, I almost died of embarrassment when they asked what the story with the squatter camp was.

I have always been proud of living in the east, till they started setting up that squatter camp on the corner of Selikaats Causeway and Atterbury Road. No one seems to be doing anything about it, whose responsibility is it? I don’t even know where to begin to search for the people that have the right to request them to be removed. My heart breaks for them and I understand that they don’t have a home, but I am sure there are other places they could go and surely it is not legal.

Please can someone help with this growing problem? If someone doesn’t do something soon, it will just grow and get out of hand.
