“The MMC for finance and the mayor are wrong – the untapped resources they think they’ve discovered do not exist.
Sectional title schemes have been paying the city cleaning levy all along, whether they are using private contractors for refuse removal or not.
The only reason why the MMC didn’t see the levy and refuse removal charge on the property tax accounts of individual sectional title owners, is because it is paid by the body corporate.
If the council wants to charge individual owners directly for the city cleaning levy, they will have to remove it from the body corporate accounts. So there really is nothing to gain.”
