OPINION: Living Waters
If you had to be very honest with yourself and you had to judge what is coming out of your innermost being and out of your mouth would you classify it as life-giving?
Ps 46:4 says: “There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God. The holy place of the tabernacle of the Highest.” Now the prophet Ezekiel tells us that this eternal river will flow into the world through the temple of God. It will flow from under the right side of the temple. Not only will this flowing river turn bitter waters sweet, but everything will live where this river flows.
However, it was Jesus Himself who directed the course of the river. This river will not flow through a temple made of stone and mortar, but it would flow through the inlet and outlet of His disciples yielded hearts. Jesus describes this in John 7:37+38: “On the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying: If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” This says that if you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and if you’ve been Born Again into the Kingdom of God and if you believe as the scripture says; out of you will come rivers of living water – you as a dwelling place of the Holy Spirit 1 Cor. 6:19.

This says you will make yourself glad and make other people glad. You will be bringing life wherever you go. This also means that the rivers of living water coming out of you and out of other believers will let the water levels rise wherever you are. The water levels will rise to the extent that there will be rivers of healing, rivers of deliverance and rivers of renewal in our society.
The question that you need to ask yourself is: “Do I believe as the scripture has said?” Furthermore, if you are not releasing rivers of living water out of your heart then something could be wrong. Perhaps it is bitterness, hatred, unforgiveness, doubt, resentment or offence that is still controlling your heart and thoughts. At present, our natural water resources are contaminated to a certain degree. This water would not always be good for human consumption. Yet, if you and I as believers let rivers of living waters flow out of our hearts we can literally bring life and healing wherever we go.

Would you classify it as encouragement, as words of Spirit and of life or would you have to admit that the waters of your innermost being are contaminated? It can change! The choice is yours! You can raise the Living Water level in your home, your workplace, your city. Will you accept the challenge?
