Sports fans can look forward to great sporting action in the coming week.
Most sports fans have already shaken off the holiday mood and are getting ready for a few major sporting events.

Although the Proteas already won the series against Sri Lanka, the third and last test match should provide excellent entertainment to lovers of the longer version of the game.
This test started at the Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg on Thursday and is supposed to finish on Monday.

At the same time, the Titans are also involved in a very important game in the local Sunfoil Series against the Highveld Lions at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

Pretoria’s emerging golf superstar Brandon Stone will get to defend his title this weekend in the South African Open.
The game will take place at the Glendower golf club in Edenvale, making it possible for golf fans from Pretoria to attend.
Several big names will be involved, the biggest attraction probably being Irish star Rory McIlroy, the current number two ranked player in world golf.
Other big names with a local flavour include Ernie Els, Retief Goosen and another upcoming superstar form Pretoria, George Coetzee.
The festive season is barely over and the first Grand Slam tennis tournament is already with us.
The qualifying rounds of the Australian Open started the past week, with the actual tournament scheduled to start on Monday.
Unfortunately, South Africa’s highest world ranked tennis player, Kevin Anderson, has withdrawn from this year’s Open.
Anderson said he was still recovering from a hip injury he sustained last year, but admitted that things were looking better and he would be returning to competition soon.
South Africans will be keeping their fingers crossed for the country’s best doubles player, Raven Klaasen, and his American partner, Rajeev Ram.
Klaasen and his former partner, American Eric Butorac, made the final of the Aussie Open in 2014, but lost to Lukasz Kubot from Poland and Robert Lindstedt from Sweden.
Klaasen was ranked the 12th best doubles player in the world at the end of 2016, but had broken into the top 10 for a few weeks earlier last year.
His highest ranking position was 9th in July 2016.

Athletics Club Eersterust, better known as ACE in the running community, will be hosting its annual 5km fun run, 10km road race and 21,1km half marathon, Athletics Gauteng North sanctioned league race on Saturday.
The event will take place at the Eersterust sports stadium on the corner of St Joseph and Hans Coverdale West streets.
The route will take runners through the streets and different areas of Eersterust and runners can expect a lot of support from local residents.
The 10km race and 21km half-marathon will start at 06:00 while the 5km fun run will start at 06:10.

The African Cup of Nations starts this weekend when the host nation, Gabon, will take on Guinea-Bissau in the opening match on Saturday night.
Kick-off time is at 18:00 SA time.
Burkina Faso will play against Cameroon at 21:00 on Saturday.
On Sunday, Zimbabwe will be involved in their first game against Algeria.
Kick-off time is at 18:00.
Tunisia and Senegal will play against each other in Sunday’s second game, which will start at 21:00.
