Giant Killers set sights on winning Super League
Mahube Giant Killers defeated All Nations 2-1 in the Super League game on Sunday at Muckleneuk sports ground in Mamelodi West.
Mahube Giant Killers’ 2-1 victory over All Nations has strengthened their hope of winning the Super League title this season.
“We are fighting to win the league this season,” Killers head coach Selby ‘Sfuba’ Sihlangu said after his side on Sunday scored in the dying minutes to beat All Nations at Muckleneuk sports ground, Mamelodi West.
Sihlangu said they were currently in second position in the table on 35 points trailing leaders Sampdoria on goal difference.

“The goal difference is in Sampdoria’s.”
The run in will be interesting as neither Killers nor Sampdoria would like to drop any point in this tight chase.

In Sunday’s match, Killers found themselves under pressure early on after Koketso Zungu, trying to clear from a cross into the 18 area, put the ball in his own net in the 21st minute.
The first half ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.
The visitors put All Nations under pressure in the second half with several attacks and eventually found the equaliser in the 80th minute, thanks to Zungu.
Zungu, who played better after scoring the own goal, redeemed himself brilliantly finishing Jacob Maubane’s corner kick.
Then in the dying minutes of the game, Thato Chuene gave Killers victory with the second own-goal of the afternoon.
All Nations head coach Pele Maphutha said they lost the game because of a shortage of players after his side was decimated by of injuries to key players.
“We were having a minimum squad in the match. It cost us dearly. Ours is to go back to the drawing board and correct our mistakes,” Maphutha said.
Killers are expecting to play Lusaka African Warriors in Mamelodi East at the weekend and more details will only become available when the fixture list is released during the week.
