SPORT: East man to represent SA in World Kickboxing Championship at England
“I am looking forward to representing my country and I will make sure that I show the world the skills and discipline that South Africans have in martial arts.”
A Mamelodi man will represent South Africa at the World Kickboxing Championship in England next month.
Sensei Mpho Letsoalo (32), of Ikageng in Mamelodi East, has been doing martial arts since the age of five.
Known in his community as “The Bee”, he said he is honoured to be selected to represent South Africa abroad.
“I am looking forward to representing my country,” he told Rekord.
“I will make sure that I show the world the skills and discipline that South Africans have in martial arts.”
Contact Fighting Art International selected Letsoalo for his unwavering commitment to martial arts.
Letsoalo said he had done “a bit of everything” in the sport.

At the age of five, he did karate and became the youngest dojo fighter in Mamelodi.
He obtained his black belt, but because of his age it was called a junior black belt.
He was also the World Professional Kickboxing Association South African title holder.
He studied martial arts with different federations.
“Martial arts is my life and my passion,” he said.
“No one will separate me from the sport I love so much.
“Doing martial arts is a wonderful feeling.”

Letsoalo founded Mamelodi Fight Fit gym brothers in arms in Mamelodi East to share his skills with his community.
Some of the champs he has produced locally are Khutso “White Fish” Legodi, Brian “The Ghost” Ntiwane, Teboho “The little machine” Ntene and Lameck “Cobra” Kadzonga.
For him to take part in the championship in England he, however, needs a sponsor to pay for his flight and accommodation which comes in at R25 000.
