Another Chiefs-Sundowns encounter this weekend

Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs will clash for the second time in a space of a month this weekend

The two SA giants will face off on Sunday at the Loftus Versfeld in a DStv Premiership match.

Both teams have made a good start this season after two games; both teams are on four points.

In the past two seasons Kaizer Chiefs have travelled up the N1 highway to Pretoria and returned victors from their league visits to face Mamelodi Sundowns, last season Chiefs won 2-1 and the season before in 2019-20 Amakhosi were 2-0 victors.

Their last meeting was in the MTN 8 quarter-finals three weeks ago where the Pretoria side won 2-1 on penalties after the match finished 2-2 after extra time.

Both teams have welcomed a few players who were on duty for the national team.

For Chiefs, they had Bruce Bvuma, Njabulo Blom, Austin Dube and Njabulo Ngcobo all called to represent Bafana Bafana against Zimbabwe and Ghana.

Downs had to prepare without Nyiko Mobbie, Rushine De Reuck, Thapelo Morena, Mothobi Mvala and Thabiso Kutumela. Kutumela however was later withdrawn after testing positive for Covid-19.

Sunday’s clash will probably see the winner top of the log with seven points after three games played this season.
