Local golfer gears up for Investec golf series
Centurion golfer Merrick Bremner hyped up for the Investec Cup.

Local golfer Merrick Bremner is ready to go all the way in the Chase to the Investec Cup which takes place at Millvale Private Retreat next month.
The Investec Cup golf series was introduced in 2013 and has since featured prominently on the Sunshine Tour calendar.
The tournament will feature 16 professional male golfers, 16 amateur golfers and 10 female professional golfers.
Bremner, who is a regular in the tournament, said he hoped to do well and improve his rankings.
“The goal is really just to get myself in and score lots of points. Hopefully I’ll have good finishes to break into the top 50.”
Bremner started playing golf professionally at the age of 19 in 2005. Since then, he has claimed four tour victories. His last victory was in 2014 at the BMG Classic.
“I have won four times (Sunshine Tour) and reached the Czech/Slovakia final. I’ve also had good finishes in recent times and top 10 finishes across Europe,” he said.
“I thank Investec for helping me to pursue my career. They have given me this wonderful opportunity to travel abroad and around the country and have done a lot for the sport. Their generosity is amazing.”
The winner of the tournament takes home R4 million and will receive an invitation to the Puerto Rico Open.
According to Investec, the tournament gives golfers an opportunity to qualify for various tournaments on the Sunshine Tour.
In 2014 Investec introduced the Chase to the Investec Cup for women.
“In pursuit of furthering women’s golf in the country, Investec has committed to support women’s golf in SA for the next three years,” Investec said.
The women’s final tournament will take place at Millvale private retreat from 10 to 12 March with all finalists set to receive world ranking points. The men’s tournament is hosted from 9 to 12 March.
