This year SPAR invites local athletes and fun runners to come and take part of the most exciting SPAR Irene Lantern Race yet.

With a new start time of 19:00 runners are guaranteed to get the most out of this night race. To make sure you can find your way and to add to the atmosphere, race organisers are asking everyone to please remember to wear headlamps and other lights and encourage all runners to wear reflective clothing.

Adding to the excitement this year will be goodie bags for everyone taking part packed to the brim with wonderful products courtesy of the race sponsors. Runners can forward to treats such as Bar One chocolates and flavoured Aquelle water.

While the SPAR Women’s Challenge is geared towards women participants, the SPAR Lantern Race is for the whole family to enjoy.

“We want everyone to come out and have a great time. Whether you are taking part or just showing support to the runners, the event is a great night out for families, couples and groups of friends. Having a race at night makes this such a unique experience and the beautiful Irene surrounds make this a really wonderful event for families,” said SPAR North Rand Marketing Director, Jerome Jacobs.

The race takes place on 15 February 2017 at the Agricultural Research Council Irene Campus and has an entrance fee of R90 for the 10km and R60 for the 5km Fun Run.

Grand Masters will pay 50% of the entry fee and Licensed Runners enter for R30.
