Stars outsmart Culsea
Culsea tilt at SAB league title was hindered by a 1-0 loss to Morning Stars at Muckleneuk sports ground in Mamelodi on Sunday.
Culsea FC were left frustrated by the 1-0 defeat to Morning Stars in a tough SA Breweries league game at Muckleneuk sports ground in Mamelodi on Sunday.
“The loss is a huge setback as it limits our chances to win the league,” Culsea coach Stanley Muthavhi said.
Muthavhi said victory was crucial to close the gap between their team and log leaders Spartak FC.
Culsea has collected 28 points from their games, six points behind Spartak.
They have, however, not given up the fight and are optimistic that can win the league if they win their remaining games.
“We still have hopes of winning the league.”
Muthavhi described the loss as a learning curve and important for identifying and correcting mistakes for the forthcoming encounters.
The only goal was an expert finish of a Tebatso Damaru through pass by Madimetje Phele in the 74 minute to give Stars a well-deserved victory.
Though Stars are outside the top five in the league, they also harbour a hope of winning the league. The latest table has not yet been released to see where Stars are but they are around seventh.
“It is important for us to collect all points from the next matches to win the league,” Moring Stars assistant coach Alfred Hlongo.
Stars will play Temba FC at the Hammanskraal sports ground on Friday at 19:00 while Culsea target beating Eersterust FC at the Zonderwater soccer field in Cullinan on Saturday 15:30.
