SPORT: Excitement building for Tshwane derby
Mamelodi Sundowns and Supersport United face each other at Loftus Stadium on Thursday at 18:00.
Premier Soccer League (PSL) sponsor, ABSA, have commenced a series of campaigns to create excitement for the much anticipated Tshwane derby between Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United.
The Tshwane soccer giants face each other in a league game at Loftus Stadium on Thursday at 18:00.
On Monday, Absa commenced a series of activations around shopping malls in Tshwane in the build-up to this much awaited derby.
The sponsor is also using football to promote awareness of and registration of the Group’s ReadytoWork initiative.
ReadytoWork is a key part of Barclays Africa’s Shared Growth commitment to education and skills and seeks to help young people bridge the gap between education and the world of work.
The ultimate goal of the free online ReadytoWork curriculum – which focuses on people skills, money skills, work skills and entrepreneurial skills – is to improve the employability or self-employability of young people.
During these activations, Absa will also be communicating the benefits if it’s Gold Value bundle offering, which has given football supporters an experience of ‘Diski Made Better’ over the past couple of months.
Oscar Siziba, managing executive: Northern region, Absa, said: “Since the start of the 2016/17 Absa Premiership season we have aligned our ReadytoWork initiative with the current season and we have leveraged the passion that young people have for soccer to drive awareness about ReadytoWork among fans, academy players at all clubs, the public and internally, among our colleagues as well.
“We are pleased to reveal that we will also be rewarding football supporters and the general public by getting them to experience ‘Diski Made Better’ through our Gold Value bundle offering. We will be transporting 800 students from Tshwane and 200 Absa colleagues – who will receive “Diski Made Better” t-shirts, snacks and refreshments to enjoy at the match – to a dedicated Absa seating area at Loftus stadium,” said Siziba.
Two ReadytoWork ambassadors, Miss SA 2010 and businesswoman Bokang Montjane, and former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs great, Jimmy Tau, will continue to inspire young people to up-skill themselves during activations this week.
Absa wished both teams the best of luck for the game.
Rekord will be giving away tickets to the match. Ten lucky winners stand a chance to win double tickets. To enter the competition, fill out the application form below and use the keyword “Tshwanederby”.
