Race organizers of the SPAR Women’s Race Pretoria are advising people to arrive early on the day in order to avoid traffic and to find a parking space.

Finally, we have reached the week we have all be waiting for. In just a few days, on 5 August, Pretoria Leg of the 2017 SPAR Women’s Challenge takes place at SuperSport Park Stadium.

Entries for both the 5km and 10km race are still available at SuperSport Park everyday till Friday 4 August from 10:00 to 18:00 daily – entries are limited so get there fast.

This week SuperSport Park will be a hive of activity with the hustle and bustle of race staff preparing for the arrival of the 25 000 participants together vendors, volunteers, additional staff, entertainment, print and broadcast media and thousands of spectators.

All of the SPAR Grand Prix series top runners will be there competing for first place in the second last leg of the series and the chance to move up the ranks in the Grand Prix leader board – with the stakes higher than ever this year as international runners are now eligible to earn points! Several of the runners currently ranking at the top of the leader board will be there to race to first place in the hopes of accumulating more Grand Prix points.

Although not everyone can keep up with the top ten runners, everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a medal as a souvenir of their achievement in finishing the race – courtesy of SPAR and the race sponsors. All the ladies taking part will also be looking forward to receiving one of the legendary SPAR goodie bags. This year’s bags will definitely be a treat having been packed with more goodies than ever.

Following the race there is an outstanding line up of some of the most popular acts of the moment – Jo Black, Majozi, Willem Botha and Jacaranda FM’s DJ Jazzy D. There will also be loads of shopping opportunities and a win competition sponsored by Suzuki. The popular lucky draw will see entrants walking away with amazing prizes so don’t forget to put your lucky draw ticket into the box when you arrive at the stadium.

Families, corporate groups and friends are encouraged to come and enjoy the day together – bring a picnic basket and make the most of this great event! Staff at the venue have requested that everyone bringing their own refreshments take note of the rules that apply.  No gas ‘braais’, glass, alcohol, cool drink cans or tins will be allowed inside SuperSport Park – only plastic bottles and containers.
