SPAR encourages women to race and say #Yes I Care
The SPAR Women's Challenge Tshwane is much more than just a road race and every year SPAR put hundreds of thousands of Rand in donations back into the community via donations to different charities.

Competing in the 2019 SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane does not only reinforce a sense of camaraderie but is also an act of philanthropy.
Just by entering the race, participants can help make a difference in the communities around them as race proceeds are donated to non-profit organisations.
“SPAR is proud that every year we are fortunate enough to put hundreds of thousands of Rand in donations back into our community to show we care. This year our chosen race beneficiaries are Good Morning Angels, Cupcakes for Kids with Cancer, Masai Athletics Club and the Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation,” said Retha Ingenbleek, Race Organiser and Sponsorship Controller, SPAR North Rand.
Good Morning Angels that was founded and spearheaded by Dianne Broodryk help between 60 and 70 individuals, families or community projects as part of Jacaranda FM’s CSI projects.
“Our almost decade long involvement with the annual Spar Women’s Challenge Tshwane is a dearly valued partnership that has supported and enabled our goal,” said Broodryk.
The Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation believes in the potential of the poor to effect change in their own lives and supports communities with all the essential needs.
“The ladies in our communities prepare for the race the whole year. They walk together in their communities and through this, motivate each other and feel part of a team. This is what we strive for at Hanna Charity, and SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane race helps us to achieve that,” said Hanna Grobler.
Supporting children with life-threatening diseases, Cupcakes of Hope is a non-profit organisation which assist approximately 70 children with cancer every month.
“We are grateful to SPAR Women’s Challenge Tshwane for their continuous support. No child deserves to fight this battle alone, and the SPAR donation will go towards helping even more little patients in 2019,” said Cupcakes of Hope founder Sandy Cipriano.
Founded by South African track icon Caster Semenya, the Masai Athletics Club supports athletes that would otherwise not have access to formal coaching. Semenya said her approach was building a human first by teaching them essential life skills and principles.
“You have to have the right outlook on life and have respect for others because sportsmanship is of paramount importance,” Semenya said.
Join these incredible charities on race day to celebrate a shared purpose and say #Yes I Care!
