Silver Lakes wins prestigious Scratch League
The Silver Lakes Golf Club team made the people of Pretoria proud in the recent 2019 Northern Provinces Scratch league.
With a mixed bunch of players ranging from juniors to mid-amateurs the Silver Lakes team has recently managed to play itself into a “winner takes all” Scratch League final against Pretoria Country Club.
Eventually Silver Lakes walked away with their fourth victory in this prestigious competition. Since their first participation in 1998, Silver Lakes have won this league in 1999, 2000 and 2002. This year, after a drought of seven years, they were able to taste glory again.
With this victory Silver Lakes also qualified for the Northern Provinces Scratch League Final’s, which took place at Silver Lakes Golf and Wildlife Estate at the end of July. The team from Pretoria competed against the winners of Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Central Gauteng, North West and Ekurhuleni to determine the overall champion.
After some exciting games, Silver Lakes won the Northern Provinces Scratch league for the very first time this year.
Team manager, Henry Roodt told Rekord that they are very proud of the achievement and also grateful to their sponsors, Pam Golding and Boshoff Incorporated teams.
