Professional wrestlers show their mettle in Pretoria

Professional wrestling is back in South Africa and a new organization recently launched their series of action-packed tournaments in Pretoria.

It’s already one of the most popular sports in the United States with millions of fans following the action on TV and in stadiums.

Years ago, professional wrestling was also very popular in South Africa and men like Danie Voges, Tarzan Jacobs, Percy Hall and Danie Brits were household names.

Jan Wilkens was a world champion for many years and his fights with the famous American Strongbow Brothers were followed by thousands of supporters.

Later years, even heavyweight boxers like Mike Schutte and Jimmy Abbott started wrestling and entertained the crowds in this sport too.

Now a new professional wrestling organization has emerged and their goal is to revive the sport in South Africa on a large scale.

Slamforce Africa, the only Premier Wrestling promotion in Africa, has set out on a journey to bring back professional wrestling on a local and global scale to South Africa and the African continent as a whole.

Their recent debut event was at the Rembrandt Hall at the University of Pretoria.

The event was a star-studded show, with former WWE stars, former WWE Tag Team Champion PJ Black, former WWE and ECW World Champion Rob van Dam and former WWE Divas Champion Celeste Bonin who all were part of the action.

These American stars came to South Africa to compete with the best local and African wrestlers the continent has to offer.

There was plenty of action and the spectators were entertained with the skills of some of the best wrestlers in the industry.

According to the organizers, this kind of entertainment has come to stay and similar action will definitely be offered in Pretoria in the near future.
