Tuks score nine tries against struggling Ixias

Tuks are still solid in the race to reach the play-off rounds in the Varsity Cup tournament, after their big victory over CUT on Monday night.

After their comfortable victory over the Ixias of the Central Technicon of Technology (CUT), Tuks is again in fourth place on the Varsity Cup log.

Nico Luus’ men thrashed the winless CUT Ixias 61-12 on their home field in Pretoria, while scoring nine tries in the process.

Although Tuks had to do without a few star players, they did not have any problems to overwhelm the men from Bloemfontein.

The students from Pretoria dominated basically all aspects of the game and the tries followed with regularity.

Fullback Kabelo Mokoena – who is having a fantastic season – was a constant threat on attack and touched down for one of his side’s nine tries.

However, the defending champions still have a difficult campaign ahead before they can start preparing for the play-off rounds of the tournament.

All three of their remaining opponents are also embroiled in an intensified battle to qualify for the semi-finals. This means that Tuks will simply have to win all three of their final league fixtures to ensure that they will be involved in the semi-finals on 18 April.

Lincoln Daniels and his teammates will play against Wits this coming Monday. Luckily for them, this match is again scheduled to be played at their home ground in Hatfield.
