UPDATE: Michael Schumacher in coma after ski accident

Seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher remains in a coma after suffering serious head injuries while skiing with his son.

Reports indicate that the seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher remains in a critical condition following a skiing accident at the Meribel ski resort in the French Alps.

Schumacher was rushed to the Grenoble University Hospital Center where he had to receive brain surgery following his serious head injury. Neurosurgeons have confirmed that Schumacher had been suffering from a brain haemorrhage.

The incident has stunned fans from around the world, and messages of condolences are pouring in on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

Schumacher was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident when he reportedly hit his head on a rock. He was immediately airlifted off the mountain.

Schumacher was skiing with his 14-year-old son and some friends when the accident occurred.

In their latest hospital statement, doctors could not confirm whether Schumacher was still in a coma, and has rather indicated that he remains “in a critical condition”.
