Residents talk cultural stereotypes
Pretoria residents talk about South African heritage and some of the stereotypes.
Residents of Pretoria embraced Heritage day as they talked about stereotypes of South African cultures.
Chronic Ntwampe described Heritage day as a celebration of culture. He also joked about the attire of the Zulus, saying he found it strange that they wear animal skins.
Nathi Mahlangu also added some of the stereotypes he grew up with.
“Shinganis (Tsonga people) are the strongest and the Xhosas are too rural while the Sothos always wear warm stuff (clothes) even when it’s hot,” he said.
“Say now I marry a white woman, my mother would look down at her and say the (white people) do not have any manners and respect. That is very naive,” Khotso Hoshoko said.
Hoshoko said, we needed to embrace our cultural differences and help other nations who did not understand. “Maybe that is how our rainbow nation will be unified,” he said.
