"They can't make up their minds on what needs to be written on a piece of paper called a memorandum."

They were fighting over the contents of a memorandum from student leaders to TUT management, said Bokamoso Segole, one of the leaders.

“We want to meet with management on a number of issues that students have been having,” said Segole.

The student bodies concerned are the Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC), the SA Democratic Students Movement (Sadesmo), Pan Africanist Student Movement of Azania (Pasma) and the SA Students’ Congress (Sasco).

A student, Buhle Mzolo, said there had been divisions among the leaders, causing renewed protests at the Soshanguve and Arcadia campuses.

Segole, current Sasco chairperson, confirmed that disagreement had led to disruptions in Arcadia and Soshanguve.

“When you are a team, you will always have infighting,” he said.

“We as Sasco are saying no violent protests and the halting of classes.”

Segole said it was important for students issues to be addressed.

Another source, who asked not to be named, said students leaders were at loggerheads and could not reach an agreement as to what issues needed to be put under the #FeesMustFall umbrella.

“The people we trusted are really confusing us. One team is saying this while the other is saying that,” said the source.

“They can’t make up their minds on what needs to be written on a piece of paper called a memorandum.”

A student meeting was held in Soshanguve on Friday to discuss the contents of the memorandum.

Record is still awaiting comment from the other student leaders.
