Villieria police spokesperson Captain Coba Brits, who regularly works with Mon Ami Trauma Troops, said Botes delivers a unique interpretation of Koos Doep’s music, stories and poems.
“Jacques is recognised by the critics for the honesty with which he performs Koos’ works,” she said.
She said Kempen and music are inseparable.
“He already started playing piano at the age of five,” she said.
Botes explained that Koebaai Koos, Koebaai tells the story of love, loneliness and the search for sense in people’s existence, through Koos’ work.
He said, despite the fairly short period of time that Du Plessis had been on the Afrikaans music scene, he held “a prominent place in our history of music and in the hearts of many”.
Residents can check out this production at the Pierneef theatre on 6 and 8 December.
