COMPETITION: Karen Zoid to Rock the Lawns with The CURE at Carnival City

South Africa’s “Queen of Rock”, Karen Zoid, is in the lineup for the upcoming Rock on the Lawns featuring The CURE at Carnival City on 16 March 2019. Zoid is known to set any stage alight with her energetic guitar solos, emotionally charged lyrics and witty sense of humour. Her music has, without a doubt, shaped local culture and dominated the airwaves for over a decade. She’s received numerous awards and has had more than 32 number one hit singles on iTunes. She’s performed with the likes of Annie Lennox, John Mayer and Metallica and, according to TIME Magazine, she’s an icon in the South African music scene.

Michelle Smith, Marketing Manager at Carnival City says it is a coup to host The CURE and some of South Africa’s top artists during Rock on the Lawns in March. Rock on the Lawns, organised by AMP Events, will be the first-ever performance in South Africa by The CURE.

The CURE is famous for hits like Friday I’m In Love, Lullaby, Close to Me, Love Song, Boys Don’t Cry, The Lovecats, Let’s Go To Bed, Just Like Heaven and many more. Their critically acclaimed album Disintegration is considered one of the most important albums in music history. The Cure is playing select events around the world as part of a 40-year anniversary tour.

Other top local bands collaborating for Rock on the Lawns at Carnival City include Fokofpolisiekar, Zebra & Giraffe, Ard Matthews and band, Opposite The Other, Southern Wild, Hellcats, Dimond Thug and The Robfather (DJ).

Fans can look forward to a day of spectacular entertainment, gourmet food trucks and bars in a laid back outdoor setting. Tickets range from R495 at Computicket.
