Disney’s new live-action remake of Dumbo starts showing at Nu Metro cinemas in Pretoria this week. Families and kids of all ages will be taken on an enchanting and often touching adventure with this all-time classic tale of the adorable flying elephant turned into a circus star – also showing on the premium large format screen with advanced digital 3D projection and 360-degree Auro-sound in Menlyn’s Xtreme theatre.

Dumbo (PG)

Showing at all Nu Metro cinemas.

Disney’s new live-action feature film, Dumbo, introduces Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell), a former circus star who finds his life turned upside-down when he returns from the War. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists Holt to care for a newborn elephant, whose oversized ears make him a laughing stock in an already-struggling circus. But, when Holt’s children discover that Dumbo can fly, persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton) and an aerial artist named Colette Marchant (Eva Green) swoop in to make the peculiar pachyderm a star.

US (16 HLV)

Showing at Nu Metro Mams Mall (Mamelodi) and Menlyn Park.

After sending shockwaves across contemporary culture and setting a new standard for provocative, socially conscious horror films with his directorial debut, Get Out, Academy Award®-winning visionary Jordan Peele returns with another original nightmare that he has written, directed and produced. Haunted by an unexplainable and unresolved trauma from her past and compounded by a string of eerie coincidences, Adelaide feels her paranoia elevate to high-alert as she grows increasingly certain that something bad is going to befall her family. After spending a tense beach day with their friends, the Tylers, Adelaide and her family return to their vacation home. When darkness falls, the Wilsons discover the silhouette of four figures holding hands as they stand in the driveway – their own doppelgängers.

Hotel Mumbai (16 DLV)

Showing at Nu Metro Menlyn Park.

Hotel Mumbai is a gripping true story of humanity and heroism, as it vividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Among the dedicated hotel staff are the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award-Nominee Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire) who choose to risk their lives to protect their guests. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer, Call Me By Your Name and Nazanin Boniadi, Homeland) is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child.
