Woman hit by stray bullet in east robbery

“They left the shop and fired several shots towards bystanders and the cash van.”

A woman was injured by a stray bullet in Meyerspark, Silverton during a robbery on Friday.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said “I can confirm that there was a robbery on security guards and not cash-in-transit (CIT) at about 13:30.”

Naidoo said a security guard had been collecting money at a liquor store at Meyerspark.

He said as the guard was walking from the cash office inside a shop, two suspects pointed a firearm at him and disarmed him, taking the bags containing an undisclosed amount of money.

“They left the shop and fired several shots towards bystanders and the CIT van.”

He said police were looking for a silver-grey Ford Ranger double cab with an unknown registration number used by the suspects to flee in.

Naidoo said the injured woman was taken to hospital. No arrests have been made
