AfriForum helps more than thousand Pta families
"The need since the lockdown started has been huge."

AfriForum’s Pretoria branches distributed more than 30 tonnes of food to about 1 270 needy families over the past month.
This was done in collaboration with the civil rights organisation’s Covid-19 task team, the family farmer network Saai and Solidarity Helping Hand and several other organisations.

“The need since the lockdown started has been huge,” said AfriForum’s district coordinator for the greater Pretoria, Sampie Steinberg.
“The lockdown has resulted in many people losing their jobs or income.”
The below Pretoria branches distributed more than R250 000 worth of food, hand sanitiser and masks:
– Apies River
– West Moot
– East Moot
– Moot Central
– Bronkhorstspruit
– Pionier
– Roodeplaat
– Rayton / Cullinan
– Pretoria West
“These projects were funded with the help of donations, branch funds and the newly established branch relief fund, which has been set up since the lockdown,” he said.

“We also received many necessary donations from the community itself. It?s great to see how communities came together to make a difference.”
He said AfriForum has created an emergency fund for each branch.
People who want to make donations can contact their nearest branch. All information is available on the branch emergency fund page on AfriForum’s website.
