Power back in most parts of eastern Pretoria after 7 day outage

"The power supply remains off at Boardwalk and Olympus with investigation ongoing," says MMC for Utilities and Regional Operations Themba Fosi

Tshwane has announced that power has been restored in most areas affected by the recent fire at the Mooikloof Substation.

The blaze that occurred last week Thursday, April 17, left residents in large parts of the east of Pretoria without electricity for an extended time.

According to the MMC for Utilities and Regional Operations Themba Fosi, power supply has been restored in the following areas:

– Mooikloof Estate
– Parkview Shopping Complex
– Woodlands Mall
– Woodhill
– The Wilds
– Pretoriuspark extensions
– A portion of Moreletapark
– MK Rural Line

However, some areas are still experiencing outages, including Boardwalk and Olympus, where investigations are ongoing.

“An investigation is ongoing after tripping during the switchback at the Onbekend Rural Lines,” Fosi said.

The Mooikloof Ridge Estate experienced a temporary restoration of power but lost it again due to an isolated open circuit cable issue.

“Power was also restored in Mooikloof Ridge Estate temporarily, but went off due to an isolated open circuit cable from Panel C12 to RMU Augrabies (Stand 26), which has impacted the area,” said Fosi.

Fosi added that the team is currently working on resolving the issue and is giving it the highest attention so that the power will be restored as soon as possible.

He has assured residents that technical teams are working tirelessly to resolve the remaining issues, and every effort is being made to expedite the process.

Fosi closed by saying, “The Metro acknowledges the inconvenience caused by this incident and expresses gratitude for the patience and cooperation of residents and businesses during the restoration process.”
