[PHOTOS] Mayoral Golf Day raises R1.7 million

More than 100 golfers and business people gathered at the Polokwane Golf Club to participate in the Mayoral Charity Golf Day on December 10.

The event was aimed at raising money to assist more than 200 indigent students in the Polokwane area to gain access to tertiary education.

The day, played in an individual stableford saw Paul Shearer, Obed Mashego and Aaron Segwapa claiming the first, second and third position in the men A division respectively. The trio accumulated 38 points on a count-in.

The men B division was won by Baldwin Ramasobane who finished the event with 41 points while Tim Marobane came second with 40 points. Matsobane Tleane settled for third position with 39 points.

Naomi Molepo and Fundi Malaza shared 31 points in the ladies open category.

Polokwane Municipality spokesperson Thipa Selala said they raised R1.7 million from a targeted R1.5 million and were grateful for a full field.
